Celebrating Over 30 Years of Cross-Border Collaboration

Building Hope Across Borders,
One Project at a Time.

Every March, Rotary District 5130 journeys to Mexico to partner with District 4140. Born as the Festival of Brotherhood and evolved into the Festival of Friendship, we unite clubs and communities to fund and build life-changing local projects.

Our History: From Brotherhood to Friendship

More than three decades ago, a small group of passionate Northern California Rotarians looked across the border and saw an opportunity—not just to provide humanitarian aid, but to build genuine, lifelong relationships. What blossomed from those visits is a landmark international tradition between Rotary District 5130 (Northern California) and District 4140 (Mexico).

For the first 30 years of our journey, this initiative was proudly known as the Festival of Brotherhood. As the world evolved, so did we. To better reflect the diverse, inclusive, and modern spirit of global Rotary, the effort was officially renamed the Festival of Friendship.

The core mechanism is accountability: We go directly to the project sites in March, assess the needs side-by-side with host Mexican clubs, and return home to California to establish club leads and pool our regional resources.
