Michael J. Stapleton

Michael J. Stapleton passed away on Jan. 18, 2010, after a very long ordeal with cancer. He was born in San Francisco and attended St. Agnes Elementary School.

He attended High School in Munich, Germany, and graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1958. Michael was commissioned in the United States Army. He attended basic infantry officer training at Fort Benning, Ga., and was stationed at Fort Ord. His business career included association with Ernst & Ernst, Homestake Mining Company, and Foremost International.

He later opened First World Travel Agency in Napa. Michael was a frequent worldwide traveler. His hobbies included golf and photography. He was a Rotarian for 30 years and served twice as president of the North Napa Rotary Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph M. Stapleton and Evelyn Raymond Stapleton; his twin brother, Philip Stapleton; sisters Eve Marie Stapleton and Joan Stapleton Rockwell; and his son, Mark Andrew Stapleton.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Tulocay Funeral Home.

Visitation is on Monday, Jan. 25, from 5-7 p.m., with the Rosary being said at 6:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mark A. Stapleton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Justin-Siena High School, 4026 Maher St., Napa, CA 94558 or to St. Apollinaris Elementary School.

The online guest book may be signed at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
