Ambassadorial Scholar - 2009/2010

To all District Officers, Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee and Club Presidents of District 5130;

Dear Fellow Rotarian,

John Duser

Ambassadorial Scholarship
Subcommittee Chair

Please be advised that Governor Nominee Kirk Brown has given his support for a one year Ambassadorial Scholarship for the year 2009-2010. On behalf of the committee I would like to thank Kirk for funding this worthwhile project of Rotary International.

At this time I would like to ask all Club Presidents to pass on the following information to their Club Foundation Chairman and the Club Scholarship Committee.

Some Application forms are available. Since I do not have enough forms to send to each Club, I suggest that applicants download the forms from the Rotary web site, www.rotary.org. The applications are ready for download now. If for any reason this is not possible, please contact me and I will send a copy to either the applicant or the sponsoring Club.

A pamphlet, 132 EN 0806 which explains the program in detail is also available at the website and should be read by the applicant before they do anything else. The website also provides other information which will help in filling out the application. For the Club Committee, a Program Guide for Rotarians can be found in the Rotary Foundation section of the website as well. It provides a lot of information for processing the application.

The timetable for completing the application is up to each Club, however, the deadline to have the application sent to me at the District level is June 15. 2008. The interview with the candidates will be in July, date and place to be announced later.

We have the funding; now it is up to all of us to get the candidates. Publicity around the holidays is something to consider since many of the possible Scholars will be home for Christmas. I hope that all Clubs will participate and justify the expenditure for this program by finding qualified candidates.

If you have any questions feel free to call or e-mail me anytime. Thanks and good luck.

I invite all committee chairs to contact me with any questions they may have
